Layanie is a relational organizer who brings her love for community and conversation to her organizing and advocacy work. Before her tenure at MASSCreative, Layanie served as the Field Manager for the Massachusetts Voter Table. There, she led the Voter Education Programming for the 2022 DA/Sheriff races in Plymouth and Suffolk Counties; helped statewide partners of the Democracy HUBS strategize and plan for Ballot wins like the Fair Share Amendment, Work and Family Mobility Act, and removing MCAS as a graduation requirement; developed the MVT Youth Action and Advocacy Day Annual Program, and much more.

Layanie brings with her an organizing experience that spans over 10 years, from a rebellious preteen raised in Broward County, South Florida, to organizing for decolonized education on campus, to making organizing a full-time career. Layanie’s love of organizing is a testament to her Haitian Roots and the conviction she finds in her culture’s saying La union fait la force, for there is unity in strength and more so when we organize together.

Outside of organizing, Layanie loves to write poetry and short stories that reflect her life and her social justice work. Though she isn’t very good, Layanie loves to throw down with a brush, some paints, and her imagination to create art to gift to her unsuspecting friends and family.
