A.J. PIETRANTONE
Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer, Jacob’s Pillow

A.J. Pietrantone is the Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer of Jacob’s Pillow, a 90-plus year-old international dance center in the Berkshires, and home of the nation’s longest running summer dance festival. He joined the staff there in October 2018, after serving four years as Vice President of the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation. He partners with other senior leaders and the Board of Trustees on developing overall organizational strategy and policies, as well as supervising senior staff in finance, facilities, human resources, information technology, marketing, retail, and patron services. A.J.’s other past experience includes 30-plus years as an executive at a broad range of nonprofits in New York City and Washington, D.C., focused on the arts, social services, civil rights,
and the environment, including national advocacy leaders Environmental Defense Fund and the Human Rights Campaign.
He has also served on a number of nonprofit boards in leadership roles including an eight-year tenure as the Chair of the Liz Lerman Dance Exchange, a modern dance company in Takoma Park Maryland, as well as Treasurer of the Millerton Cinema Arts and Culture Center, the Design Industry Foundation Fighting AIDS, and EarthShare.
He currently serves on the finance committee of Multicultural BRIDGE, a grassroots organization advancing equity and social justice in the Berkshires. A former arts consultant and adjunct professor for nonprofit finance at The New School University, he is a graduate of the Catholic University of America and received his MBA in finance and investments from the George Washington University.
