A.J. Pietrantone is a seasoned nonprofit executive with over 40 years of leadership across the arts, environmental advocacy, civil rights, and social services in the Berkshires, New York City, and Washington, D.C. Specializing in financial strategy, operations, and organizational expansion, he has served as CFO and COO for major regional and national institutions—including advocacy leaders Environmental Defense Fund and the Human Rights Campaign—and is an established arts management consultant.

Most recently, A.J. spent eight years as Deputy Director and COO of Jacob’s Pillow, an internationally renowned dance center and home to America’s longest-running summer dance festival, overseeing finance, campus development, facilities, HR, IT, marketing, retail, and audience services. His prior executive leadership includes four years as Vice President of the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation and serving as Executive Director of Friends of Hudson River Park, where he led state and municipal lobbying while establishing the private fundraising framework for America’s longest waterfront park.

A dedicated board leader, A.J. has served as Board Chair of the Liz Lerman Dance Exchange and Treasurer for EarthShare, the Design Industry Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA), and the Millerton Cinema Arts and Culture Center. He currently serves on the finance committee for Multicultural BRIDGE, advancing equity, diversity, and social justice in the Berkshires.

A former adjunct professor of nonprofit finance at The New School, A.J. holds a B.A. from The Catholic University of America and an MBA in Finance and Investments from The George Washington University.
