
The Campaign to Include Arts Education in State Frameworks Enters Crucial Point
State education leaders are currently considering including arts education into their new accountability frameworks for the upcoming school year.
Changes in federal law under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) direct states to restructure their accountability and assistance systems for schools and districts. This offers Massachusetts an opportunity to move beyond its current accountability system based on test scores, graduation rates, and language proficiency by including access and participation to arts education.

Last week, MASSCreative launched Create the Vote 2016 to engage candidates and voters on arts and cultural issues and the role they play in building a more vibrant, healthy, and equitable Massachusetts.

Musicians + Politicians: Celebrity Series & #StreetPianosBoston
MASSCreative is excited to be hosting a piano at the Massachusetts State House as part of Street Pianos Boston presented by The Celebrity Series of Boston. Running from September 23 to October 10, 2016, the street pianos are a great opportunity for State House leaders and their constituents to celebrate the arts, and make connections between the arts and public policy.
To kick off #StreetPianosBoston, we're holding a State House Street Piano Opening Ceremony. Please join us on Wednesday, September 28 at 1PM in Ashburton Park at the State House.

New Partnerships Announced to Promote Creative Placemaking
MASSCreative and the Massachusetts Association of Community Development Corporations (MACDC) were one of three partnerships chosen by the National Alliance of Community Economic Development Associations (NACEDA) and Americans for the Arts to engage in an intensive, one-year program to build knowledge and advance creative placemaking in their state or region.

MASSCreative is proud to endorse the Community Preservation Act and encourage the arts and cultural communities in Boston, Springfield, and Pittsfield to Vote Yes on Question #5 to pass the Community Preservation Act on November 8.
