MASSCreative Hires Political Director to Lead Advocacy, Policy Initiatives

This September, as part of its long-term growth strategy, MASSCreative hired Andre Green as the organization’s first Political Director. Green brings 15 years of experience in education, operations, technology, data analysis, and advocacy to MASSCreative. He most recently served as senior project manager for the On Solid Ground Coalition, leading the coalition’s efforts to develop comprehensive solutions to increase housing stability and economic mobility for low-income families in Massachusetts. 

Prior to that he was the senior manager for field mobilization at YouthBuild USA, developing outreach strategies to connect 500 program staff and 10,000 students and alumni with federal officials. In addition to his work for MASSCreative, Andre serves as an elected official, representing Somerville's 4th Ward on the Somerville School Committee. “My life’s work has always been about building a society that enables every individual the opportunity to thrive.” Green said “MASSCreative’s mission to build a healthy, vibrant, and equitable Massachusetts is therefore really exciting to me and I am loving the opportunity to build legislative support for policies that correctly put arts and the cultural community at the heart of that work.” 

In this newly-created position for MASSCreative, Green is expanding the organization’s advocacy platform by building stronger relationships on Beacon Hill and in municipal government statewide; forging partnerships with civic and political leaders; and leading MASSCreative’s political campaign team.

“Andre is skilled at building partnerships and mobilizing people around a common goal,” said Matt Wilson, MASSCreative’s executive director. “Since our founding in 2012, MASSCreative has made great gains in the State House and beyond, advocating for arts and culture as a path to economic prosperity and better quality of life in the Commonwealth. Andre is the person we need right now to help us grow and strengthen our political presence as we seek to build more healthy, vibrant, and equitable communities through the creative economy.”
