Elections are a time for candidates and voters to discuss the strengths and challenges of our towns and cities. It is also the time where we as a society can openly debate our vision for our communities and think about what is possible.
Throughout this election season, we will be engaging candidates about the impact that arts, culture and creativity has on our economy, on developing youth, on the health and well-being of residents, and how much greater this impact could be with more intentional leadership and investment.
We will do this by:
- Holding community meetings and roundtable discussions with candidates
- Developing and Issuing an arts and culture focused questionnaire to every candidate and sharing their responses with artists, creative workers and cultural supporters
- Hosting a Town Hall Forum with candidates

On Tuesday November 8, 2022, Massachusetts voters elected Attorney General Maura Healey and Mayor Kim Driscoll as the new Governor and Lieutenant Governor.
Governor-Elect Healey sat down with the Create the Vote Coalition in July to chat with coalition members on her plans for arts and culture for the Commonwealth. Lieutenant Governor-Elect Driscoll also joined coalition members for a roundtable discussion, and also attended the coalition’s Candidate Forum and Celebration of the Arts in August.
The Create the Vote Coalition sent a letter of congratulations to Governor-Elect Maura Healey and Lieutenant Governor-Elect Kim Driscoll offering congratulations, welcoming the pair to their new roles and thanking them both for their time engaging with the Create the Vote Coalition during their campaigns. We also reiterated the policies within our Arts and Culture Policy Platform that we urge the new administration to implement to strengthen a more inclusive and equitable arts and cultural economy and offered coalition members as a resource.
