Arts instruction increases achievement across all disciplines and develops the whole child. What will you do as a school committee member to champion arts education for our youth both in our schools and communities? How will you balance the importance of arts education with the constant pull to teach to the test?

We have opportunities in our city and our schools that encourage engagement and interest in the arts. Successful programs for murals throughout our city promoted by both city council and school committee are a proven visible activity of enrichment for many interested youth. Understanding that funding is always a challenge in addition to ensuring time is extended to arts for our youth can and has affected our commitment to the arts. As an advocate of courses that create and promote student engagement I have and will continue to support connecting the arts to our students in our community. As I reflect over the numerous special projects, exhibits and programs we have currently I am proud of our students work and appreciate the time and energy of staff and students. I will be continuing my support of our Worcester public school Arts liaison and anticipate reviewing their accomplishments.
