Summer in Boston is buzzing with activity--from music events, cultural festivals, art exhibits and more. Every week holds dozens of new events, a significant portion of which are free to the public, allowing everyone to experience Boston’s vibrant arts and cultural scene this summer.

Should you decide to come and see what all the excitement is about, you may run in to members of the MASSCreative team. We will be visiting arts and cultural events throughout the summer, asking you to share your voices with Boston Creates – the City Department of Arts & Culture’s planning team – and your local legislature!

Boston Creates is a community-wide effort to build a shared vision for arts and culture in the Boston area. Between June and September, the Boston Creates Leadership Committee will be listening for the ideas and visions from individuals regarding the future of arts, culture, and community spaces in Boston. The Leadership Committee will be following the hashtag #BostonCreates throughout September, and we want to make sure they see what you have to say. Our message is louder when we have more voices; which is why we will be gathering as many thoughts as we can at each event to share with #BostonCreates.

In addition, we are creating interactive art pieces at each event centered on the theme of Arts Building Strong and Vibrant Community.  We want you to show your reasons why #ArtsMatter to you through text, sketch, paint—or any other way you can think of! At the end of the summer we will be sharing these art pieces with the City Department of Arts & Culture, as well as MA legislators, letting them know how important arts and culture are to our community.
