This message is spreading: arts matter in Massachusetts and should matter in our state elections. Our collective voice in the creative community is also growing. Over 180 groups have pledged to take action in the campaign, helping the Create the Vote coalition build a true grassroots movement.



Worcester – Music Worcester: Celebrate ‘Arts Matter Day’ at an opening night performance of Beethoven’s 9thSymphony on Friday, October 24th. Worcester Chorus and the Arcadia Players will also be joining this festive community celebration.  Come visit MASSCreative’s table at intermission and share why arts and culture matter to you.

Cambridge, Somerville - MASSCreative is partnering with HONK! - the festival of activist street bands to help show that we all play a role in building vibrant, connected, and creative communities. On Thursday, October 9th, MASSCreative was in Union Square in Somerville, to kickoff the weekend long festival with preHONK. On Sunday, Octber 12, we're marching in the HONK! Parade with the message "Honk if the arts matter to you!" Meet us at 11AM at the staging area to join in on the fun.

South End, Boston - MASSCreative is partnering with the Boston Center for the Arts for forte539's young professional event on October 22 to explore the new exhibit Labor in a Single Shot. In addition to the interactive art making activities already happening that night, MASSCreative will be gathering arts matter photos. 

Concord - MASSCreative is partnering with The Umbrella Community Arts Center for October's Art Talk on the 22nd with resident artists and community members. Arts Matter stories, photos, and videos will be gathered and shared to show that arts matter in Concord and beyond.

Fort Point, Boston - MASSCreative is partnering with Fort Point Arts Community for Fort Point Open Studios, Oct 17-19. You'll find us in our home at Midway Studios in the Walter Feldman Gallery and out in the streets of Fort Point. In addition to an Arts Matter photo booth, we'll be gathering stories from artists in their studios.

Hudson, MA—Symphony Pro Musica, Alison Doherty plans to film a video of the symphony performing and advocating for the arts.  On Arts Matter Day, October 24thSymphony Pro Musica will promote this video through social media, in the Symphony Pro Musica Newsletter, and dedicate a section of their website to Arts Matter Day.

Boston, MA—Sinha Capoeira, Phil Cohen brought the theme of Arts Matter into a class of Capoeira dancers by asking why Art Matters to them and then filming a video of the Sinha Capoeira dancers performing.  On Arts Matter Day, October 24th, Sinha Capoeira will promote the video through social media and by engaging their networks and asking them to watch their video and sign the Arts Matter pledge!

Greenfield – Human Error Publishing, Paul Richmond: The Greenfield Annual WORD Festival will feature a MASSCreative table at the final show and Book Fair at the Ocean Grill on Sunday, October 26th.  The WORD festival, which takes place over 6 days in downtown Greenfield, gives visitors and vocal audiences a chance to enjoy words crafted by poets, spoken word artists, and writers from near and far. 

Fenway - The Fenway Alliance will hold its 13th annual Opening Our Doors in the Fenway Cultural District this Columbus Day, October 13. Join MASSCreative and Kelly Brilliant and Mina Kim from the Fenway Alliance for a day filled with an exciting array of arts and cultural activities. And be sure to come find us on the front lawn to share your Arts Matter story.
