Stop AAPI Hate and White Supremacy
The racially motivated murders that targeted Asian and Asian American women in Atlanta last week brought into national focus the rise in attacks and racist rhetoric against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders over the last year.
As an arts and cultural sector we are charged with caring for communities by interpreting the human experience and celebrating diverse cultures. It is our responsibility to stand up against anti-asian hate, racism and white supremacist systems.
MASSCreative encourages arts and cultural advocates across the Commonwealth to join us in anti-racist learning and advocacy actions to combat AAPI racism by checking our the following resources:
- The MA Asian American Commission will hold a town hall this Thursday, March 25 at 6pm
- The Asian Pacific Islanders Civic Action Network (APIs CAN) released a statement and sign on letter calling on local, state and federal governments to take action.
- Company One’s twitter thread includes links to several national and local resources.
- The Cultural Equity Learning Community provides a curriculum of study to better understand the roots of racism and how we can move towards culturally equitable communities and arts organizations.
- Support AAPI-led and AAPI-community focused arts and cultural organizations in Massachusetts including the Pao Arts Center, Boston Asian American Film Festival, The Genki Spark, and Angkor Dance Troupe
